Chinese Dota is in real jeopardy at Shanghai. Out of the five in-region teams participating, only three remain — all of which are in danger of elimination. With another best of 1 elimination round to go, we might very well be seeing China fall apart completely later today.
On the flipside, the Western teams (plus MVP Phoenix) are enjoying success in this tournament as expected. Although tournament favourites Alliance were knocked down to the lower bracket by Team Liquid, every non-Chinese squad save Team Archon made it past the first elimination round. Speaking of MVP Phoenix, teams at this tournament will have to be quite wary of them going forward, as they are currently an astounding 6-0 in maps. They’ve been playing their brand of Dota extremely well, and have shown that they are not to be messed with.
OG (2/9 bet365) v Team Secret (7/4 Skybet)
The closer of the two winner bracket matches tomorrow, OG versus Team Secret should be prove to be a pretty entertaining series. OG are the favourites in this fixture, but given the odds Team Secret wouldn’t be a terrible bet here. They at least showed the resilience and wit to keep themselves out of the first lower bracket round, so at the very least they aren’t total pushovers in this tournament. On the other hand, OG finished first in their group without running into a lot of trouble, and their momentum will likely keep going from here
There is always a chance for Team Secret to simply throw the series away. Misery can be a liability more often than not, and the Cloud 9 curse just seems to follow EternaLEnVy wherever he goes. If you want the safer bet, go for OG, but there’s quite a bit of money to be had with the Team Secret bet.
Recommended Bet:
Team Secret to win the series with Skybet at 7/4 (2.75)
Team Secret to win 2-1 with bet365 at 4/1 (5.00)
Evil Geniuses (2/9 bet365) v Fnatic (3/1 Skybet)
This should be yet another fairly easy match for EG. Fnatic had to struggle quite a bit to get out of their group, while EG coasted to first place with only one map loss. The skill disparity between both teams isn’t even close, and Fnatic aren’t exactly known for being a consistent team. Well, unless you count being consistently mediocre, then you could probably make a case.
We know you’re probably sick of betting on EG, but they really just have this one in the bag. Fnatic might not even muster enough to take a map here, and even if they do a series win for them is unlikely.
Recommended Bet:
Evil Geniuses to win the series with bet365 at 2/9 (1.22)
Evil Geniuses to win 2-0 with bet365 at 10/11 (1.91)
