We are less than one hour away from the grand finals of the MarsTV Dota 2 League. This tournament has been one of the best in 2016 so far, and it’s hard to believe we’re only getting into February a day from now.
The story of this particular event has been one of evenly-matched teams, for the most part. After the conclusion of the third day there was no clear favourite to win it all. Every match from there was difficult to predict. The kings of the lower bracket Evil Geniuses dug in and inched their way to a grand finals spot, taking out teams such as LGD and OG in the process. EHOME didn’t exactly have the easy way to the end either, as they had to face teams like Vici Gaming as well as OG in their upper bracket run.
With the collective fatigue EG have to contend with, EHOME have a slight advantage in that regard. However, after destroying OG 2-0 in the lower bracket final, EG have momentum on their side. If history is to be trusted, it’s highly likely they will ride that wave to a championship victory.
Needless to say, this grand final is going to be a close call, even if the score doesn’t end up having all five maps in its total. You can never really count out EG going through the lower bracket like they usually do, but at the same time EHOME are looking solid and well-prepared to tangle with the TI5 champions.
EHOME (19/20 Betway) v Evil Geniuses (3/4 Betway)
One look at those odds tells you a lot of what you need to know about the grand finals. It could honestly go through all five games, or it could be a stomp if one team comes out swinging hard. Given these extremely close prices, we’d normally recommend the better value bet in EHOME, but a scenario where Ppd just figures the Chinese team out is entirely possible– so we recommend it with some trepidation. Arteezy and UNiVeRsE also showed why they’re among the best players in the world in their LB series against OG, and if they show up to play like that in the grand finals, they’ll be golden.
If EHOME keep their composure and play like they did in their last two matches, though, EG will have a hard time. It’s also important to note that this is a rematch between these two teams from the upper bracket, where EHOME came out on top 2-1. This tells us that the match itself will be just as close as we think it will be. This matchup is not for the faint of heart, so place your bets with caution.
