The first ever Manila Major is coming to a close soon, with the grand finals already in sight here on the fifth day of the event. Two Chinese teams remain in the competition, along with two Western teams and a single Southeast Asian team.
Yesterday, hometown fans had their hearts broken not once, but twice — after fan favourites Na’Vi and Fnatic were eliminated. This leaves the Manila Major with no more Filipino players left over, and more than a few Dendi fanboys going home less than happy. Still, there’s plenty more good Dota to be seen, considering the teams that will be fighting for that grand finals spot.
OG (5/4 bet365) v Newbee (4/7 Skybet)
OG and Newbee are set to have their rematch from both the EPICENTER semifinals and their meeting in the group stage of this major. The former went to all three games, while the latter was purely in favor of the Chinese. All things considered, though, these two squads are still pretty evenly matched.
Given the odds on both teams, we would suggest betting on OG here. They are more than capable of taking Newbee down — it’s just going to be a matter of if they can keep their cool collectively and not end up having to rely completely on Miracle- to carry them once again. It’s going to take a full team effort to beat this powerhouse team, so if n0tail, Fly, Moon, and Cr1t all show up, it’s going to be a good day to dream green — most especially if they can get their hands on Timbersaw.
Recommended Bet:
OG to win the series with bet365 at 5/4 (2.25)
OG to win the series 2-1 with bet365 at 7/2 (4.50)
MVP Phoenix (13/8 bet365) v LGD Gaming (4/9 bet365)
Okay, fine — we were wrong about LGD. They’ve done pretty well to get this far in the tournament against some of the better teams in the field, and they’ve been performing more or less beyond anyone else’s expectations. But, we’re still wondering how much that means against a team as powerful as MVP.
MVP Phoenix failed to secure a top 3 finish when they were given the opportunity to do so, but considering they were defeated by OG in that series, there really is no shame in that. Since then they’ve opted to skip their meet and greet session at the event, presumably to focus on scrimming and formulating strategies for their matchup against LGD. If there’s one thing we know about the Koreans, it’s that their dedication and serious outlook on the game will help them prevail.
Besides, LGD still showed signs of weakness in their series yesterday against Vici Gaming Reborn. They dropped the second game in that fixture, with xiao8 especially seeming like he had simply given up on playing properly that day. If MVP can jump on every opportunity to punish LGD, they will come away with the win here. As for the odds in this matchup, it’s clear which team will be the better value.
Recommended Bet:
MVP Phoenix to win the series with bet365 at 13/8 (2.63)
MVP Phoenix to win the series 2-1 with bet365 at 7/2 (4.50)
