The final day of the spectacular tournament that is the EPICENTER LAN Final is upon us, and with it comes the OG-Newbee rematch in the lower bracket. Team Liquid soundly defeated OG yesterday two games to none to secure their spot in the grand finals, this being the second in a row for the squad. Whether or not the team’s tendency to choke in a grand final will rear its ugly head here remains to be seen, but either way their possible opponents from the lower bracket are both great teams that they cannot underestimate.
Regardless of the outcome today, this tournament will likely be celebrated and remembered for a significant amount of time afterwards. Its production quality has been stellar for a LAN outside of the Major series, and the marvelous games that it has produced form the icing on the cake. But for now, there are betting tips to be talked about — so let’s get down to it!
OG (5/4 bet365) v Newbee (4/7 bet365)
OG and Newbee have actually already faced each other once in this competition, with that series going all three games. Although it took OG three maps to beat Newbee in that matchup, the first and third games were definitely displays of power by the Europeans. Even the second map made it look like Newbee had lost the “invincibility” they had at the beginning of the LAN, as it took them 65 minutes and a lot of effort along with it to win that one. For a while, Newbee looked mortal again, even as they were poised to make history by winning 30 games in a row.
Alas, OG were defeated by Liquid in the winner bracket final, leaving them reeling in the wake of Matumbaman’s onslaught as Lycan and Lone Druid. They’ve had a day to rest up and get their heads back in the game, so it’s not like they’re being thrown right back into the gauntlet against Newbee here. They’ve beaten Newbee before, and they (or at the very least, Miracle-) can certainly do so again. Besides, that price on Newbee is just not that good, especially against the team that not only ended their streak but actually defeated them in a best of 3.
Recommended Bet:
OG to win the series with bet365 at 11/8 (2.38)
OG to win the series 2-1 with bet365 at 3/1 (4.00)
Whoever wins here will go on to face Liquid in the grand final. Should OG prevail, they would still be the underdogs in the championship match given that it will be a best of 5, where Miracle- may run out of gas trying to carry his team to victory. This is assuming the rest of the squad doesn’t show up and leaves it all to the Miracle- Show once again, which has definitely happened more than a few times. Unless they have a good price attached to them or completely thrash Newbee in the lower bracket final, avoid betting on OG in the grand final. Newbee would likely prove a better match against Liquid if they make it through here.
